What to Expect

24 Hour Emergency Care available in clinic and in the comfort of your barn!
We are the only private practice equine emergency facility in New Jersey that provides 24 hour intensive care to hospitalized patients. A doctor and fully trained technical staff members are always present at the hospital to oversee the care of our patients. Our field service veterinarians are also on call around the clock to attend to emergencies in the field.

What to Expect for In-clinic Appointments and Emergencies
 
Daytime Emergency Referrals
If during office hours, please call the main number, (609) 397-0078 and select the prompt for emergency services, option 3, and a receptionist will assist you.
 
After Hours Emergency Referrals
Please call our main line, (609) 397-0078 select the prompt for emergency services, option 3, and the answering service will take your information and have a doctor return your call as soon as possible.
 
Scheduling an Appointment
When calling the office's main phone number, (609) 397-0078, please select the prompt for in-clinic appointments, option 4, and if a receptionist doesn't answer and help you right away, please leave a message with your name and number and we will get back to you as quickly as possible.
 
Estimates
If your horse is admitted to the hospital, you will be provided with an authorization form that will include an estimate. Estimates vary depending upon the type of emergency. If your bill is nearing the upper end of the estimate, you will be alerted and given an updated estimate for your horse's continued treatment.
 
Deposit Requirements
If your horse is admitted to the hospital, we ask that you be prepared to leave a deposit. The deposit amount taken will vary depending upon the type of emergency but is typically the lower end of your estimate range.
 
Real Time Billing
All of our billing is done in real time to make it convenient for you to call and check on your balance at any time during your horse's stay.
 
Daily Updates
If your horse is admitted to the hospital, you can expect daily communications and updates from your horse's attending veterinarian. Please call at any time for any additional questions or concerns.
 
Visitation
If you would like to visit your horse while they are in the clinic, our visitation hours are as follows:
Monday–Friday: 2pm - 4pm
 
Please come to the front desk to sign in and someone will escort you back to see your horse. Special arrangements may be made if you are not able to make it during visitation hours. Please speak with your doctor or the front desk prior to arriving.
 
When It's Time to Leave
When it is time to take your horse home from the clinic you will receive a discharge report from your veterinarian overviewing the history, treatment and recommendations for your horse. This report is also sent to your referring veterinarian so they can keep your horse's record updated.
 
Payment Policy
You will receive an itemized statement for your review at the time of dismissal. Payment in full is required upon dismissal of your horse or, if the invoice is not available, upon receipt of the invoice.  We do not offer payment plans but we do participate with Care Credit which, if eligible, does offer some extended term options.

Our field service veterinarians are available for emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

How To Get In Touch With Your Field Service Veterinarian
If you have questions about your horse or need to make a change to your appointment time, call the main line, (609) 397-0078, and follow the prompts for the Field Service Coordinator, option 5. She will get in touch with your vet so that your questions maybe answered in a timely fashion.
 
Payment Policy
Payment is due at the time of services provided. It is our office policy to securely store a credit card number for each client but there is also the option to pay via personal or business check.
 
Insurance Claims (for all services)
 
If your horse is insured, it is up to you to open the claim with your insurance company. Please provide the front desk with your insurance claims representative information (name, number and email) and claim or file number, when you are issued one.
 
You are required to pay the clinic for your horse’s services at time of dismissal. The front desk will take care of sending all the necessary paperwork for your appointment to the claim representative and they will then reimburse you directly.
