The Equine Reproduction Unit of the Mid-Atlantic Equine Medical Center is located at Cedar Lane Farm, just 10 minutes west of the Center.  The unit provides advanced expertise in the breeding and health of mares and stallions and care of their newborn foals, and is headed by Dr. Dean Neely, a board certified reproduction specialist.  To help ensure pregnancy of your mares and fertility of your stallions this specialty facility offers the most advanced diagnostic and technologic procedures including:

1. Evaluation and Management of the ‘Problem Barren Mare’:
     • Professionals with skill for accurate palpation of mares
     • Ultrasonography procedures with advanced equipment
     • Speculum and Endoscopic examinations of the mare
     • Rapid Uterine Culture, Cytology and Laboratory procedures
     • Endometrial (Uterine) biopsy and Histopathology interpretation

2. Hormonal Synchronization of the estrous cycles for breeding via:
     • Transported-Cooled semen
     • Frozen semen (requiring close-to-ovulation insemination)

3. Equine Embryo Transfer Center
     • Nonsurgical Collection of Equine Embryos
     • Nonsurgical Transfer of Equine Embryos
     • Synchronization of Recipient (Surrogate) mares
     • Consultation on Donor-Recipient Synchronization and Selection

4. Semen Collection of Stallions:
     • Training of new stallions for semen collections on a ‘Phantom'
     • Daily scheduled semen collections for program stallions
     • Semen Evaluations for Pre-breeding season and Pre-purchase
     • Shipping of cooled-semen and Consultation of these programs
     • Storage and shipping of Frozen Equine Semen
     • Diagnostics (such as endoscopy) for the stallion genital exam
     • Consultation on formulating Stallion Breeding Contracts
     • Consultation on ‘Booking” of mares for varoius semen programs
