Pre-purchase examinations are an integral part of the decision making process when buying a horse. Although no single source should be relied upon for information during the buying process, many Mid-Atlantic clients consider an examination by one of our doctors as a prerequisite of any purchase.
The standard pre-purchase exam at MAEMC includes: - Conformation evaluation
- Palpation of all four limbs
- Hoof testers on all four hooves
- Lameness evaluation on hard and soft ground
- Flexion of all four limbs
- Complete Blood Count
- Chemisty Panel
- Coggins Test
- Ophthalmic exam
- Cardiovascular exam
- Respiratory system exam
- Reproductive system exam (if applicable)
- Temperarture, Pulse and Respiration
- Lunging and under saddle (as appropriate)
- Radiographs of the front feet

Additional services such as drug screens, endoscopic exams, and sonographic exams are not included the standard pre-purchase examination fee.
